The Ashton 2nd Year Anniversary!
Last updated: 10.16am, Monday 19th September 2016
We officially celebrated our second birthday here at The Ashton Care Home this month.
Since opening our beautiful 72-bed home in John Street had the first floor redeveloped a to cater for specialist dementia needs. This was specifically designed to provide a safe and welcoming environment for individuals with dementia or serious memory problems, such as Alzheimer's disease.
The facility was officially opened as The Bennett Suite on October 5, 2015 in honour of it being the centenary year of Hinckley-based textile company, James Bennett Limited. We have named each of the three floors after local community areas or long-running Hinckley businesses.
The Davenport Suite is so called after Davenport Knitwear, a hosiery factory opposite The Ashton which was founded in 1956 and is still open for business today. The Danilo Suite is named after The Danilo - Hinckley’s third purpose-built cinema which opened in 1937 before it closed in 1993 by which time it was known as Cannon MGM.
Since opening two years ago, we have become a community hub for many Hinckley residents, our free public events have become a hit with the local community too.
Our events have included a traditional British afternoon tea to celebrate The Queen's 90th birthday, a Festival of English Wine event followed by a Festival of Cheese, and the care home’s annual Summer Garden Party which featured a local Saxophone Quartet.
