This week we rekindled some of our residents’ love for the great outdoors with a trip to Bradgate Park. Our activities team took groups of residents to visit the park in Charnwood Forest, the area extends to some 830 acres and is a location rich in history and natural history.

.Our residents were able to enjoy all the park has to offer such as the Ruins of Bradgate House – a Tudor mansion built in the early 16th century – and Old John Tower – a folly built around 1784, standing nearly 700 feet above sea level.

The day out was part of The Ashton’s continuing list of activities which are designed to help give residents the chance to get out and about in the countryside.

Care home manager Tracy Heyes said: “Lots of our residents were keen to participate in the trip and enjoy the mild weather we have been experiencing so far, this Autumn.

“Everyone appreciated spending the afternoon in such beautiful surroundings and having a lovely walk. The visit to Bradgate Park is all part of our extensive activities programme here at The Ashton to give our residents lots of fresh air and gentle exercise.”
