A Fresh New Look for Our Dementia Floor

We are delighted to share the transformation of our dementia community, designed to create a more soothing and homely environment for our residents. We understand the importance of familiarity, comfort, and relaxation and have reimagined the space to bring the outdoors inside—an approach that has already made a meaningful difference to both our residents and their families.

The new setting captures the peaceful charm of nature, with gentle colours, floral arrangements, and inviting seating areas that encourage moments of rest and reflection. One of the most loved additions is the beach chairs, where residents can sit back, unwind, and take in the warm, welcoming atmosphere. This small yet thoughtful touch has been particularly popular, evoking feelings of nostalgia and contentment.

For many of our residents living with dementia, sensory experiences play a crucial role in their well-being. The presence of flowers, natural-inspired décor, and soft lighting help to create a calm and reassuring environment. By introducing these elements, we have seen first-hand how they can enhance mood, reduce anxiety, and encourage meaningful interactions among residents.

These areas are directly integrated into our varied well-being programme, ensuring all activities are specifically tailored to the interests of our residents. Whether they choose to actively participate, sit back and watch or enjoy relaxing elsewhere in our dementia community, our team are on hand to support them around the clock.

Family members have also been touched by the changes, often commenting on how the new look adds a cosy and inviting feel to the area. Knowing that their loved ones have a space that promotes relaxation and a sense of belonging offers invaluable peace of mind.

Creating environments that support the unique needs of those living with dementia is at the heart of what we do. Every detail, from seating choices to decorative elements, has been carefully considered to ensure that our residents feel safe, comfortable, and engaged. This transformation is part of our ongoing commitment to providing not just care, but a true home where every individual is valued and supported.

We are incredibly proud of this new space and the positive impact it is already having on our residents and their families. If you would like to see the changes for yourself or find out more about our care services at The Ashton, we warmly invite you to visit us. Our team would love to welcome you and share more about how we create a nurturing and enriching environment for those in our care.
